LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. (EMUEagles.com) – The seven members of the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team hit the links for the final competitive round of the 2019 calendar year today, Oct. 22. Five members wrapped up the three-day Pat Bradley Invitational in Florida, while two other Eagles closed out play at the Chippewa Invitational back in Michigan.
As a team, the Eagles shaved five strokes off their total to finish in 11th-place with a cumulative score of 895 (300-300-35). Stetson took home the trophy with an eight-under 856 (286-290-280), while Florida Atlantic (860), Florida Gulf Coast (874), Florida International (876), and Gonzaga rounded out the top five on the par-72 Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club.
Junior Preaw Sripatrprasite (Bangkok, Thailand-Siam International) was the top finisher for the Green and White in 31st with a six-over 222 (72-76-74). Senior Julia Stevenson (Milford, Mich.-Milford) followed with a 223 (75-73-75) in a tie for 38th, while senior Maria Connelly (Waterville, Ohio-Anthony Wayne) posted a even-par Tuesday to finish tied for 47th with a 226 (77-77-72). Sophomore Green Apichonlati (Bangkok, Thailand-The Regent's International School) also tied for 47th with a 226 (78-74-74) to go along with a 231 (76-79-76) from senior Katelin Lawson (LaSalle, Ontario- Ridge Community-Tampa).
Closer to home at the Chippewa Invitational , freshman Olivia Loberg (Bend, Ore.-Summit) collected her first career top-20 finish with a 158 (79-79) in a tie for 16th-place at Birmingham Country Club. Meanwhile, sophomore Abby Livingston (Novi, Mich.-Novi) finished in 27th with a 161 (78-83).
Western Michigan collected the team title with a score of 613 (300-313) ahead of Bradley (617) and Grand Valley (618).
The Eagles will resume action in February, taking part in Mid-American Conference match play event, Feb. 3-4, back in the Sunshine State.
