The Eagles look to capture their fourth MAC title
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team announced its 2020 schedule today, Oct. 18. The campaign includes playing host to the reigning Mid-American Conference champion Northern Illinois University, as well as trips to Georgia and Air Force.
EMU will continue its tradition of participating in a scrimmage with the University of Michigan, Dec. 7. The squads have used the opportunity work out any offseason rust in each of the previous five seasons.
Following a month off, Eastern opens the regular season with three MAC opponents, beginning on the road against Bowling Green State University, Jan. 11. Returning home the following two weeks, the Eagles will take on Central Michigan University, Jan. 19, and Western Michigan University, Jan. 24.
The Eagles will travel to Lindenwood University, Feb. 2, before a quick five-day turnaround, in which they take on NIU at the Convocation Center, Feb. 7.
Following the home meet, EMU will fly to the University of Georgia, who finished last season's campaign ranked No. 8 in the nation. The meet will also include MAC opponent Ball State University, Feb. 14. Immediately after, the Green and White will head back to the Midwest for a league meet at BSU, Feb. 16.
Eastern closes out the final stretch of the regular season on the road, taking on the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado, Feb. 29. The following week, the Eagles compete back in the Mitten State, against Michigan State University, March 7, before rounding out the regular season at Kent State University, March 13.
The Green and White begin their postseason with the MAC Championships, Saturday, March 21, at Western Michigan University, where they look to bring home the program's fourth conference title. If the team should qualify for the NCAA Regionals, the Eagles would compete Saturday, April 4, at one of six possible locations.
