EMU's final home meet of the 2018-19 season serves as a celebration of the team's nine seniors
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University swimming and diving team concludes home competition when it takes on Albion College, Friday, Feb. 1, inside Jones Natatorium. The meet will include a celebration of the team's nine seniors and their accomplishments prior to the first event.
The Green and White last met the Britons Feb. 2, 2018, as the team wrapped up its dual season with a 150-107 senior day win inside Jones Natatorium. The Eagles swept all event titles, while tallying five career-best performances throughout the meet. Then-junior Stephanie Johnston (Holland, Mich.- Hamilton) started the competition with a season-best 200 Freestyle swim of 1:53.48 to earn the first EMU individual event title, while fellow then-junior Delaney Duncan (Galesburg, Ill.-Galesburg) turned in a time of 2:06.05 in her debut in the 200 Individual Medley swim, also good for first-place.
EMU looks to continue its perfect dual meet record, most recently extended Jan. 26, as the Eagles bested Bowling Green, 167-122. The day saw the Eagles capture 11 event titles, while also notching 17 season-best performances. Furthermore, five members of the Green and White also recorded career-best efforts in the battle with the Falcons. Senior Nicole Swartz (Dayton, Ohio-Centerville) saw her career-best 200 Freestyle time of 1:52.38, while Duncan once again snagged the 100 Breaststroke title, swimming in over two seconds faster than any of her competitors, with a time of 1:02.57.
The team will recognize seniors Duncan, Johnston, Swartz, Emilie Desnoyers (St. Albert, Alberta), Michal Liberman (Rosh Haayin, Isarel- Begin), Gabrielle Mace (Clinton, Mich.-Chippewa Valley), Marissa Marion (Rockford, Mich.-Rockford), Dora Vrcic (Dubrovacka, Split, Croatia), and Rebecca Winnert (Buffalo, N.Y.- Williamsville) before the competition begins at 6 p.m. inside Jones Natatorium.
