YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - Closing out the home portion of the 2018 schedule, the Eastern Michigan University softball team welcomes Oakland University to Varsity Field Wednesday, May 2, for a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch of the twin bill is set for 2 p.m.
The Eagles (9-36, 5-15 MAC) look to snap a seven-game losing skid, having most recently been swept by the Cardinals of Ball State, April 27-28. The Golden Grizzlies enter the week with a 15-23 overall record. Oakland took two-of-three against Cleveland State, April 24-26, and will host Detroit Mercy in a double dip Tuesday, May 1.
Live stats will be available, while Greg Steiner will also call Wednesday's game on Eagle All-Access. Links can be found on the softball schedule page. Additionally, fans can follow the action through Twitter by following the team's account, @EMUSoftball.

TALE OF THE TAPE: Eastern Michigan and Oakland have met just 26 times in their respective histories, with the Eagles leading the all-time tally by a 19-6-1 count. EMU has won three of the last five meetings, dating back to 2015.
The Green and White swept last season's DH at Oakland, May 3. In the first game, Michelle Kriegshauser went 2-for-3 and Arielle Anderson added an RBI double to fuel EMU past OU, 3-1. In the night cap, Nicolle Miranda struck out five in a complete game effort to shutdown Oakland, 4-2.
200x2: With five strikeouts in EMU's doubleheader versus Ball State, April 28, Trisha Trujillo surpassed 200 career K's. The Whittier, Calif. product now has 203 strikeouts in her four-year career, joining teammate Nicolle Miranda (222) in the 200-K club. It marks the first time the Eagles have had two pitchers with 200-or-more career strikeouts on the same team since Jenna Ignowski and Lauren Wells in 2013.

EMU AT VARSITY FIELD: EMU has recorded five wins at home this season, its most since matching that total in 2016. With two home games to go, Eastern can post its highest win total at home since 2015 when the Green and White went 7-7.

TAKING ON THE MITTEN: The Eagles have squared off against schools hailing from the state of Michigan 413 times ahead of the midweek clash with the Golden Grizzlies, including a 2-2 mark this season. The Eagles have been most successful against Detroit, holding a 48-8 lead in the all-time series while clashing with Western Michigan most often. In 109 all-time meetings, the Broncos hold a 69-42-1 edge over the Eagles. EMU owns winning records against Grand Valley State (2-0) and Oakland (19-6-1), but trail in the all-time series with Michigan (8-57), Michigan State (14-31), and Central Michigan (33-74-1).

OUSTING OAKLAND AT HOME: Despite leading the all-time series against Oakland by a wide margin, Eastern Michigan has seen much of its success against its in-state foe come on the road. EMU has not beat OU at Varsity Field since 2013. In that double dip, a three-run sixth led the Eagles to a 6-5 come-from-behind victory. Nellie Coquillard blasted three-run homer to cut Oakland's lead to 5-3 through five innings. From there, Amanda Herron and Amanda Stanton completed the comeback in the sixth. Herron's RBI single was followed by Stanton's two-run knock, putting EMU up, 6-5, into the seventh. There, Jenna Ignowski shut the door in the circle with a 1-2-3 inning, including a strikeout.

WONDER WOMAN: Senior Haley Hostetler has been one of EMU's most reliable players during her time in Ypsilanti. In fact, the New Haven, Ind. native has played in 196 consecutive games since stepping foot on campus, more than any other player in program history. Playing in three games against Ball State, April 27-28, Hostetler surpassed Jessica Richard's previous program standard of 195 games played.
Additionally, Hostetler also holds the program record for starts, having made 195 during her tenure between center field and shortstop.

SPEEDSTER: Senior Angel Schilke has served as one of EMU's top threats on the base paths during her career. Primarily used as a pinch runner in each of her first three seasons, Schilke has racked up 31 stolen bases for her career, the 11th-most in EMU history. Schilke had 10 steals as a freshman, nine as sophomore, five last season, and has added seven to her career total this year. Her seven swipes this season rank 12th-most in the conference.

DOUBLES FOR DAYS: Amanda Akles and Haley Hostetler currently lead the Eagles in doubles with 13 and 10, respectively. Akles' dozen ranks tied for eighth in EMU single-season laurels, while Hostetler is just outside the top-12. Meanwhile, both find themselves ranked inside EMU's top-20 for career doubles as both Hostetler and Akles ranked tied for 14th all-time with 28 two-baggers.

K CLUB: In the latest Mid-American Conference statistical rankings, Eastern Michigan has two pitchers ranked inside the league's top-15 in strikeouts. Senior Trisha Trujillo and junior Nicolle Miranda have fanned 75 and 79 batters, and are currently ranked 11th and 12th in the MAC, respectively. It marks the first time the Eagles have had two pitchers slotted inside the conference's top-15 since Jenna Ignowski (11th-104) and Lauren Wells (15th-90) did so in 2013.

MOVING ON UP: Junior Amanda Akles' season HR total sits at nine, tied for eighth-most in EMU single-season history. She has recorded 23 round-trippers in her career, good for sixth, and needs just one more dinger to tie Lauren Clark and Nellie Coquillard for fifth-most in EMU's laurels.

ON DECK: Eastern Michigan wraps up the season on the road when it travels to Kalamazoo, Mich. for a three-game series against Western Michigan University, Friday-Saturday, May 4-5. The weekend starts with a single game Friday at 3 p.m.
