Eagles Send Representatives to Virginia Challenge and Don Kleinow Memorial Invitational

Action for both meets begins Friday, April 20
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team picks back up this weekend as the Eagles send representatives to the Siena Heights Don Kleinow Memorial Invitational in Adrian, Mich. Friday, April 20, and the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Va. Friday-Saturday, April 20-21.
EMU is most recently coming off a weekend that included the Tennessee Relays, April 12-14. There, the Eagles had 14 performances serve as personal-records, as well as 10 performances that placed in the top-five. Overall, Eastern had 19 performances from the Relays alone that currently rank within the top-five in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) for their respective events.
Redshirt senior Tyler Brown (Findlay, Ohio-Findlay) was part of four of the performances that fall within the MAC's top-five from this past weekend, including ranking first in the 400m and being a member of the 1600 relay team that also currently sits atop the conference times. He ran to a third-place finish in the 400m with a time of 46.95, and assisted the 1600 relay team to second place, as the cohort ran to a time of 3:07.38. Brown also had a solid showing in the 200m, where he placed 20th with a time of 21.41, which currently ranks fifth in the MAC. Additionally, his long jump of 7.53m that earned fifth place in the meet is slotted at fourth in the conference.
Fellow sprinter and freshman teammate Owen Richardson (Basingstoke, England) also put together multiple performances last weekend that rank within the MAC's top-five, as his 200m time of 21.00 ranks second, and his 400m time of 47.76 ranks fourth.
Other notable performances from the Tennessee Relays came from sophomore Devonte Findlay (Lauderhill, Fla.-Blanche Ely) in the 110m hurdles, junior Nick Herbert (Portage, Mich.-Portage Northern) in the triple jump, and junior Derek Ziegenfuss' (Allentown, Pa.-Parkland) javelin throw. Findlay finished with a personal-record time of 14.19, which ranks first in the MAC, while Herbert's triple jump of 15.17m ranks second, and Ziegenfuss' javelin distance of 66.01m sits at third.
