KENNESAW, Ga. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University junior Penelope Guilleux (Saint Maur Des Fosse, France-Arsonval) posted her sixth career top-20 showing with a strong finish Tuesday, March 27, at the Henssler Financial Intercollegiate. Guilleux closed with a final round 76 for a 54-hole mark of 225 (76-73-76) and a tie for 18th in the field that featured a trio of nationally ranked teams.
As a team, Eastern finished in 10th on the par-72, 6,032 yard at Pinetree Country Club course with a 948 (318-314-316). Kent State, ranked 19th nationally, claimed the team title with a nine-over 873, seven strokes ahead of Ole Miss. Host Kennesaw State was third at 884 followed by Augusta (892) and Coastal Carolina (893).
Senior Thelma Beck (Baden, France-Lycee Sainte Anne) continued to show improvement as she shaved three more strokes from here second round to tie for 42nd with a 239 (82-80-77). Freshman Preaw Sripatrprasite (Bangkok, Thailand-Siam International) took 45th with a 242 (78-78-85), while sophomores Julia Stevenson (Milford, Mich.-Milford) and Maria Connelly (Waterville, Ohio-Anthony Wayne) rounded out the scoring with a 245 (82-82-81) and a 251 (82-87-82), respectively.
Head Coach Pina Gentile and the crew have one more tune-up before the Mid-American Conference Championships at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green, Ohio, April 7-8.
