Through three days of competition at the Mid-American Conference Championships, the Eastern Michigan University men's swimming and diving team finds itself sitting in second overall after two individual MAC titles were won Friday, March 2, inside the Nixon Aquatic Center. The Green and White have amassed 499 points and are just under a hundred points behind Missouri State University (591.5) and 10 ahead of Miami University (480).

Freshman Carter Swift (Shepparton, Victoria, Australia) shined in the 200 freestyle as he won his first MAC Championship title with a career-best time of 1:35.42. Swift, who now ranks second in program history, broke the previous pool record. It is also the first 200 free championship title for Eastern since Andrew Henry won it in 2016. Senior Jake Tyson (Ipswich, England-Northgate) was close behind Swift, as he took second with career-best time 1:35.46, the third-fastest time in EMU laurels, while junior JF Murphy (Montreal, Quebec-Sainte-Anne) rounded out the championship finals with a third-place finish. Sophomore Alex Arrieta (Miami, Fla.-Doral Academy Center) and freshman Alec Hoch (Orchard Park, N.Y.-Orchard Park) both earned points for EMU with 12th and 15th-place finishes in the consolation final.

Eastern posted a slew of points in the 100 backstroke, where the Green and White claimed four of the top-10 spots. Junior Tosh Kawaguchi (Cary, N.C.-Cary) won the 100 back with a blistering time of 47.54. Kawaguchi's MAC title was the 14th in the event. The Cary, N.C. native now ranks second in Eagles' history with his time. Burton turned in a season-best time of 48.43 to take second, as junior Ricky Perez (Greenfield, Wis.-Greenfield) and sophomore Matan Segal (Lehavim, Israel-Hof HaSharon) finished in ninth and 10th, respectively.

Sophomore Parker Saladin (Buchanan, Mich.-Buchanan) improved on his seed by one slot in the 400 individual medley, claiming fifth-place in the race with a time of 3:53.64. Saladin's career-best time now ranks sixth all-time at EMU..

The Eagles posted two more top-five finishes in the 100 butterfly, led by a third-place mark by senior Logan Burton (Chesapeake, Va.-Hickory). Burton clocked in at 47.37, while freshman Chris O'Shea (Miller Place, N.Y.-Rocky Points) followed right on his heels at 48.10 to take fourth-place.

In the 100 breaststroke sophomore Matthew Tsenkov (Sofia, Bulgaria-General Vladimir Stoychev) touched the wall in 54.91 for fifth-place. Tsenkov's time marked the fourth-best in program history. Freshman Ben Gingher (Boalsburg, Pa.-State College Area) secured a top-10 finish as he turned in a time 55.67, good for ninth-place.

The Eagles closed out the evening with a second-place finish in the 400 medley relay with a program-best time of 3:12.38. Kawaguchi teamed up with freshman Ben Brooks (Avon, Ohio-Avon), Tyson, and Swift, to shed over six full seconds off their seeded time for the program record.

The final day of the MAC Championships begins tomorrow, March 3, at 10:30 a.m. with a preliminary session, with the 1650 freestyle heats to follow. The last session of the meet will begin at 6:30 p.m. and feature several championship heats, including the 3-meter dive.
