Women's Golf Comes Up Short in Match Play Finale

Junior Penelope Guilleux recorded a perfect 3-0 mark in the tournament
LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team dropped its final match of the Mid-American Match Play Challenge Tuesday, Feb. 6, on the par 72, 6,068-yards Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club course. The ninth-seeded Eagles fell to No. 11 Central Michigan University, 3-2, to wrap up the tournament with a 1-2 mark.
The tournament, hosted by Bowling Green State University, was won by Kent State University with a 3-2 triumph over the Florida Gulf Coast University. Northern Illinois University finished in third with a 4.5-0.5 decision over Western Michigan University.
Junior Penelope Guilleux (Saint Maur Des Fosse, France-Arsonval) was dominant in match play, recording a perfect 3-0 mark in the tournament. The Saint Maur Des Fosse, France native led from wire-to-wire in a 5&3 defeat of the Chippewas' Bria Colosky.
Additionally, sophomore Maria Connelly (Waterville, Ohio-Anthony Wayne) pulled out EMU's second win of the day with a 3&2 victory over CMU's Danielle Sawyer, gaining an early edge on No. 2, and holding onto it for the remainder of the day.
The team returns to traditional stroke play at Rio Verde Invitational, Feb. 23-25, in Rio Verde, Ariz.

Tiebreaker System:
Team Matches Tied: Team matches that are tied will be decided by using the following procedure:
If a team match is tied after the completion of the five singles matches, the tie will be broken by comparing the margin of victory of each individual match won for their team.
If a team tie still exists, the team winner will be determined by comparing the number of holes remaining in each match won:
If a team tie still exists, the team winner will be determined by comparing the halved match or matches. These results will be determined by a "scorecard playoff" (scores will be compared by the #1 handicap hole) provided all tied matches have played that hole. Handicap holes will be used until the tie is broken with total scores.
