SOUTH BEND, Ind. & HILLSDALE, Mich. (EMUEagles.com)
- The Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team capped off its weekend at both the Meyo Invitational and Hillsdale Wide Track Classic, Saturday, Feb. 3.

Overall, the distance squad had a respectable performance at the Meyo Invitational's second day of action, with redshirt senior Hlynur Andresson (Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland-Mountain Ridge) headlining the competition with a first-place finish in the 3000m, setting a new career-best time of 8:02.08. Additionally, freshman Owen Day (Ottawa, Ontario-International School of Dusseldorf) had another strong outing in the mile run, capturing second place with a time of 4:02.77, which also serves as a new personal-best.

The Hillsdale Classic also saw event titles snagged and personal records set by Eagles. The day started with the high jump, where senior Travis McCuaig (Big Rapids, Mich.-Morley Stanwood), freshman James Thomas (New Castle, Pa.-Union Area), and junior Cameron Hart (Columbus, Ohio-Bishop Hartley) swept the top-three, respectively, with Thomas' jump of 1.99m serving as a personal-record. Much like the high jump, the triple jump also saw three EMU student-athletes sweep the top-three rankings in the form of junior Micah Peters (York, Ontario-Vaughn Road Academy), senior Brandon Bolden (Solon, Ohio-Solon), and freshman Cameron Sorenson (Oshkosh, Wis.-Oshkosh North), respectively.

Redshirt junior Zach Purcilly (Troy, Mich.-Avondale) continued Eastern's streak of event championships, placing first in the shot put with a toss of 17.29m. Sophomore Devonte Findlay (Lauderhill, Fla.-Blanche Ely) rounded out EMU's first-place finishers, as he stood atop the 60m hurdles podium with a new personal-best time of 7.95. Sophomore Ivan Suazo (Columbus, Ohio-Westland) was not far behind, as he too recorded a new career-mark, crossing the finish line in 8.07 to claim second place.

The Green and White return to Allendale, Mich. next weekend Friday-Saturday, Feb. 9-10, for the annual GVSU Big Meet. This is the Eagles' second-to-last meet before the Indoor MAC Championships, which will be held Friday-Saturday, Feb. 23-24, in Cleveland, Ohio.
