EMU and Alabama will square off tomorrow at 9 a.m.
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University's rowing team's spring break trip culminates in a day of racing against the University of Alabama tomorrow, Feb. 24. The Eagles will participate in 1,000-meter pieces with the Crimson Tide beginning at 9 a.m.
"It has been a great training week in Alabama," Head Coach Kemp Savage said. "Alabama has been incredible as hosts and the weather has been close to perfect as we could have hoped for. We look forward to really getting to test how much work and improvement we have made over the last week against UA tomorrow."
Eastern Michigan has spent the week in warmer weather, providing the Eagles with an opportunity to get on the water in preparation for the spring portion of the season. Tomorrow's races mark the third consecutive year in which the Green and White has gone up against the Crimson Tide.
Last year, Eastern Michigan and Alabama participated in 16 1,000-meter pieces, putting four boats on the water. It was in the Varsity 4 race that the Eagles claimed third place over the 'C' boat of UA in three of the four races, with a day-best time of 4:08.0, which was 16 seconds better than the 'C' boat in that heat.
Racing get underway at 9 a.m. in Tuscaloosa.
