YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team takes a break from conference competition as the Eagles play host to Illinois State University Thursday, Feb. 15, inside the Convocation Center. This is the last home competition until the Green and White host Western Michigan in the last meet of the regular season, March 16.

FOLLOWING THE MEET: Fans can follow the meet through live stats and a live stream offered by ESPN3. Links can be found on the EMU gymnastics schedule page located on EMUEagles.com.

EMU VS. ILLINOIS STATE IN RECENT HISTORY: The battle between the Eagles and Redbirds has taken place eight times over the past 10 seasons, with EMU currently holding a 5-3 edge. Additionally, the Green and White has come away with victories in the last four meetings, having not lost since the 2013 season.

LAST TIME OUT: The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team fell to Northern Illinois University Friday, Feb. 9 in Ypsilanti, Mich. The evening saw four career-best performances, but the Eagles could not close the gap against the Huskies as they dropped their third Mid-American Conference dual of the year, 195.425-194.900. Senior Kendall Valentin captured the lone EMU event title with her performance on bars, after nailing her routine for a 9.85. The Eagles' best event of the day came in the form of floor, where they marked a 48.875 behind sophomore Emili Dobronics' career-high 9.85.

IMPROVEMENTS ON FLOOR: The Eagles have seen a boost in production on floor over the past three meets, boasting an average team score of 48.85 through the contests, compared to their 48.683 they currently hold on the season. The spark came in the team's first quad of 2018, when EMU marked a season-high 48.9 at MSU, Feb. 9. The following two meets saw the second and third best scores of the season, as the Green and White notched a 48.875 against NIU, Feb. 9, and a 48.775 in its meet against UIC, Feb. 2.

LOOKING AHEAD: EMU hits the road for its first of three straight meets away from the Convo, Sunday, Feb. 25, when it treks to Kent, Ohio to take on the Golden Flashes.  Additionally, that dual will be the first of back-to-back Mid-American Conference meets, as the Eagles square off against Ball State in Muncie, Ind., March 4.
