Bogdanova and Cizmas Break EMU Records at Husky Invite

Both times rank inside the top-15 in the country for their respective events
SEATTLE, Wash. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team finished out its weekend with two student-athletes breaking EMU all-time records at the Husky Invite Saturday, Feb. 10 in Seattle, Wash.
A week removed from earning Mid-American Conference Track Athlete of the Week honors for nearly breaking the EMU all-time mile run record, senior Natalie Cizmas (Clinton Twp., Mich.-Chippewa Valley) finally broke the barrier with a time of 4:39.29 to etch her name at the top of the Eastern record book. The time beat her previous mark of 4:39.98 she set in last week's Meyo Invitational, Feb. 3, and bested former student-athlete Victoria Voronko's time of 4:39.84 she set in 2014.
However, Cizmas was not the only student-athlete to break an EMU school record, as redshirt senior Alsu Bogdanova (Kazan, Russia-Lyceum #83) surpassed senior Jordann McDermitt's (Davison, Mich.-Davison) 3000m time she set last season, crossing the finish line in 9:05.81. Both Cizmas and Bogdanova's times now also rank in the top-15 in the country for their respective events.
Senior Jenna Wyns (Londerzeel, Belgium-Sportschool KA2) also put together a strong performance in the mile, earning a personal-record time of 4:47.62. Additionally, that mark now puts her at eighth all-time in EMU standards.
The Eagles complete their regular-season schedule Friday, Feb. 16, at the Silverston Invite in Ann Arbor, Mich.
