Men's Track and Field Selected Second in MAC Preseason Poll

EMU won both indoor and outdoor MAC Championships last season
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team was tabbed second in the Mid-American Conference Coaches' Preseason poll, the league office announced Wednesday, Dec. 3.
The reigning MAC indoor and outdoor champions tallied 21 points, as EMU was selected to finish second in the conference for the second straight season, once again sitting behind unanimous conference champion selection Akron. The Zips collected the maximum 30 points allowed in the preseason poll. Buffalo, Central Michigan, and Kent State rounded out the poll, as the Bulls garnered 17 points in the preseason rankings, while both the Chips and Golden Flashes earned 16 points.
The 2018 Indoor Champions bested their 2017 conference championship performance, as 12 Eagles earned All-MAC honors, while the Green and White once again swept all individual conference honors. Then-freshman Owen Day (Ottawa, Ontario-International School of Dusseldorf) earned co-MVP, First Team All-MAC, and Freshman of the Year honors, as he placed first in both the 800m and mile during the conference championship. Nick Raymond earned the other half of the league's MVP honors, as he led the Eagles' podium sweep of the 3000m run, in addition to a first-place finish in the 5000m.
With the three-time MAC Coach of the Year John Goodridge at the helm, EMU looks to earn its conference-leading 16th MAC Indoor Title in the upcoming season.
Eastern opens competition Friday, Dec. 7, at the GVSU Holiday Open in Allendale, Mich.
