Cassie Haut Named MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week

The redshirt junior helped lead the Eagles to its first ever NCAA Tournament
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - Eastern Michigan University volleyball redshirt junior Cassie Haut (Monroe, Mich.-St. Mary Catholic Central) was named Mid-American Conference Scholar Athlete of the Week for the period ending Nov. 18. The recognition was earned for her incredible performance while lead EMU to its first MAC Tournament Championship, Nov. 15-18 in Oxford, Ohio. This is Haut's first weekly scholar honor of her career and the first for the EMU volleyball program since 2011.
The Monroe, Mich. native helped lead the Eastern Michigan volleyball team to its first-ever MAC Tournament Championship, averaging over 4.06 kills per set while hitting .416 in the Eagles' four-game trek to the title. Highlighting Haut's week was her performance in the MAC Championship game against No. 2 seed and tournament host Miami University, as the middle blocker led all players with 19 kills and hit an outstanding .429. The Monroe, Mich. native had her second 20+ kill performance of the season when she finished with 21 in Eastern's 3-1 upset of No. 4 Buffalo. Haut also finished with 1.00 digs per set, 0.69 blocks per set, and a team-high eight aces.
Haut and the Eagles find out their postseason fate Sunday, Nov. 25 as the NCAA Tournament Selection Show airs on ESPNU at 8:30 p.m.
