The three have opportunities to add depth in all event lineups
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University Gymnastics Head Coach Katie Minasola announced the signing of National Letters of Intent of three student-athletes in the form of Hadyn Crossen (Carmel, Ind.-Carmel), Molly Parris (Hudson, Ohio-Hudson), and Mickayla Stuckey (Union City, Ind.-Indiana Connection Academy), Friday, Nov. 16.
"I am really excited to add Mickayla, Molly and Hadyn to our EMU family next year," said Minasola. "These three young ladies really compliment each other and will add power, poise and grace to our line-ups next year. They have already created a bond that will only grow stronger while at EMU."
"Hadyn is a very dynamic gymnast and will bring consistency to the bar line-up next year," added Minasola. "She will also add depth to our floor line-up."
A native from Carmel, Ind., Crossen holds extensive experience in all four events. In level 10, Crossen has qualified to state the last four years, including the 2018 Indiana State Championships, where she captured first-place in the all-around, placing first in beam, second on bars, and fourth on floor. Crossen also has experience competing on the national stage, having competed at the 2016 Junior Olympic (JO) Nationals, where she marked a fifth-place finish on floor.
"Molly is very powerful and her explosiveness will draw the crowd to their feet on vault and floor," exclaimed Minasola. "Molly has the potential to had a 10.0 vault to our line-up."
Hailing from Hudson, Ohio, Parris will join EMU having been a level 10 gymnast since 2014. Since then, Parris has gone to the Ohio State Meet and Region 5 Championships every year. Most recently, Parris tied for fifth in the all-around at the state championship, while finishing 11th in the all-around at the regional championship.
"Mickayla is a very detailed orientated gymnast and has an impressive dance background," Minasola explained. "With those combined she will add some excitement to our floor and beam line ups."
Another newcomer who has the potential to add depth in multiple events, Stuckey has recorded an impressive all-around personal-best of 38.3 in this last year of competition. A member of Cincinnati Gymnastics for the past two years, Stuckey has joined Parris as a regular in both the Ohio State and Region 5 Championships. In the 2018 state meet, Stuckey came away with a bronze in the all-around, having posted second-place finishes on floor and beam, as well as a fifth on bars and sixth on vault.
EMU will see its first bit of action in an exhibition against the University of Michigan, Dec. 2. The exhibition is slated to begin at 2 p.m. in Ann Arbor, Mich.
