Rowing Concludes Fall Competition at Head of the Hooch

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University rowing team concludes its fall competition, Saturday, Nov. 3. as the team travels to Chattanooga, Tenn. to take part in the 36th Head of the Hooch. This will be EMU's ninth time contending in the regatta, where they will race nine boats.

Since 1981, the Head of the Hooch has been one of the world's largest rowing regattas, with 2,000 boats racing over the two-day competition. Participants come from over 200 different clubs, racing head-to-head in a 5,000-meter (3.1 mile) route on the Tennessee River, ending at Ross' Landing Park in Chattanooga.

Starting off the Hooch at 10:38 a.m., the Eagles will enter two boats in the Novice 4+. Next, Eastern will put two boats in the water for the Champs 8+ at 1:08 p.m, looking to improve on its 12th and 17th-place finishes at the event last season. Continuing the day for EMU, two boats will join the Novice 8+ competition at 2:37 p.m. Concluding the day at 5:17 p.m., the Green and White will have three boats racing in the Champs 4+.
