The Eagles look to bring home their fourth straight conference championship

TOLEDO, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's cross country team will take part in the Mid-American Conference Championship Saturday, Oct. 27, in Toledo, Ohio. The Eagles look to bring home their fourth consecutive conference title.

In last year's championship race, EMU tallied a team score of 45 points, the second-best score in program history. Led by First Team All-MAC honorees, Alsu Bogdanova and Jordann McDermitt, Eastern had three harriers finish within the top-10, while all five scorers placed inside the top-20. The third and fourth Eagles to cross the finish line were 2018 co-captains, redshirt senior Natalie Cizmas (Clinton Twp., Mich.-Chippewa Valley) and senior Sydney Meyers (Zionsville, Ind.-Zionsville Community), who both garnered Second Team All-MAC accolades, placing ninth and 11th, respectively. The fifth EMU harrier to finish was Anna Aldrich, who crossed in a season-best time of 21:36.3 to place 19th. Along with Cizmas and Meyers, redshirt senior Allie Knoll (Warren, Mich.-Warren Mott), and sophomores Tarynn Cullings (Medina, Ohio-Medina) and Madison Distelrath (Fort Wayne, Ind.-Homestead) serve as the only other current student-athletes who competed in last year's championship race.

This weekend's race includes five programs that also rival EMU in the Great Lakes Region. The region is home to Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Miami, Toledo, and Western Michigan. Eastern has held the highest regional ranking out of all MAC schools throughout the duration of the season, as the Eagles have been slotted at No. 7 and have held that same placement since the preseason.

The MAC Championships will be hosted by the University of Toledo at the Ottawa Park Golf Course. The day begins at 11 a.m. with the women's race, and the men will follow shortly after at 12 p.m. Fans can follow along via live results by clicking here, or by following the link located on the schedule page of EMUEagles.com.
