Alyssa LaFace Earns Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week

The senior libero has won Defensive Player of the Week three times in 2018
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) -- Eastern Michigan University volleyball senior Alyssa LaFace (Allen Park, Mich.-Allen Park) was named the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week for her performances against Miami University and Bowling Green State University, the league office announced, Monday, Oct. 15.
The honor is the third of the season for LaFace, and marks the seventh time an Eagle has earned a weekly MAC award in 2018.
LaFace once again proved stout on the defensive side of the ball for Eastern Michigan, amassing 60 digs in two matches against MAC East leaders Miami and Bowling Green, averaging 6.67 digs per set. The libero's season average of 6.05 digs per set is good for second in the MAC and third in the NCAA.
The Allen Park, Mich. native's 33 digs against BGSU marked the fifth time this season the senior has had 30+ digs in a match, while her digs-per-set mark was the highest over the weekend for the MAC West. The senior also added a pair of aces and five assists in the two matches.
The Eagles return to #MACtion with a pair of Mid-American Conference East road games, taking on the University at Buffalo Friday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. and following that up with a bout at the University of Akron Saturday, Oct. 20 at 5 p.m.
