WESTFIELD, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University sophomore men's golfer Cougar Collins (Caledon, Ontario, Canada-Mayfield Secondary) posted a two-under par 142 and is tied for 12th-place after the opening day of the Chatham Hills Collegiate, Oct. 14. Collins posted rounds of 68 and 74 for a two round, nine strokes off the lead held by Northwestern's David Nyfjall (65-68=133).
As a team, the Eagles carded an opening day score of 575 (283-292) while Marquette University holds down the top spot with a 36-hole tally of 558 (274-284) on the par 72, 7,215-yard Club at Chatham Hills Course.
Sophomore Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario, Canada-St Joseph's Catholic) is tied for 16th with a 143 (70-73), while junior Zach Sudinsky (McKinney, Texas-Boyd-Stephen F. Austin) and senior Beau Breault (Hartland, Mich.-Hartland) are just two strokes back in 29th with a 145. Rounding out the lineup, sophomore Tyler Rayman (Ostego, Mich.-Ostego) posted a 158 (79-79).
A total of 24 players are under par at Chatham Hills.
EMU will be paired with Purdue and Rutgers and will go off the 1st tee starting at 8:30 a.m. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
