WESTFIELD, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University senior Beau Breault (Hartland, Mich.-Hartland) returned to his string of solid play Monday, Oct. 15, as he carded a three-round total of 213 to finish tied for sixth-place at the Chatham Hills Collegiate on the par 72, 7,215-yard Club at Chatham Hills course. The 11-team field featured seven of the top-100 in the Golfweek rankings.
For Breault, it was his second top-10 showing of the year and the fifth of his career, as he pieced together rounds of 72, 73 and 68 for the top spot among EMU golfers.
Sophomore Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario, Canada-St Joseph's Catholic) tied for 20th with a 216 (70-73-73), while sophomore Cougar Collins (Caledon, Ontario, Canada-Mayfield Secondary) was two strokes back in 25th with a 218 (68-74-76). Junior Zach Sudinsky (McKinney, Texas-Boyd-Stephen F. Austin) added a 220 (73-72-75), while sophomore Tyler Rayman (Ostego, Mich.-Ostego) posted a 237 (79-79-79).
Purdue (846) mounted a comeback from 11 shots back entering the day to nip Northwestern (848) by two strokes for the team title. Overnight leader Marquette (849) dropped to third, while tournament host Indiana (852) also finished under par. EMU finished fifth with an 867 (283-292-292) followed by Ball State (868), Rutgers (872), Miami (878), Northern Illinois (880), IUPUI (882), and Xavier (903).
Northwestern's David Nyfjall, the 36-hole leader, shared medalist honors with IUPUI's Austin Crowder who came from four shots back to match him at 11-under par.
The two-day tournament was the final fall competition for the Eagles. The Green and White now take an extended break from competition before returning, Feb. 11-12, for Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play in Dade City, Fla.
