Eagles To Compete in Hillsdale Wide Track Classic and Meyo Invitational

Both meets will take place over the course of Friday, Feb. 2, and Saturday, Feb. 3
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team gets back into action Friday-Saturday, Feb. 2-3, as it competes in the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind. and the Hillsdale Wide Track Classic in Hillsdale, Mich.
The Eagles will look to continue their recent progression after having a strong outing at the SVSU Jets Pizza Invitational, Jan. 27. The invite saw EMU capture six event titles and post 13 top-three finishes. Additionally, the meet saw three Eagles put up performances in the 800m that now rank in the top-four of the Mid-American Conference so far this season. Freshman Owen Day (Ottawa, Ontario-International School of Dusseldorf) currently paces Eastern and the conference with a time of 1:52.36, with redshirt senior Csaba Matko (Racalmas, Hungary-Szechenyi Istvan Gimnazium) following close behind at 1:53.24 and sophomore Roderic Wilson (Atlanta, Ga.-Blance Ely) ranking fourth in the MAC with a mark of 1:53.50.
Matko extended his strong showing during the invitational as a member of the distance medley relay as well. He, along with redshirt senior Nick Raymond (Erie, Mich.-Mason), sophomore Dan Kuhn (Erie, Pa.-Harbor Creek), and freshman Dennis Manyeah (Darby, Pa.-Pennwood) ran a 10:02.97 finishing time to take first place, while also earning a new MAC-best in the event.
Additionally, with the time of 47.33 he notched in the 400m, redshirt senior Tyler Brown (Findlay, Ohio-Findlay) won the event title and set a new top-mark for the event in the MAC. His performance also earned him MAC Track Athlete of the Week honors as the first Eagle to do so this season.
