Eagles Fly Back to University Center for Jets Pizza Invitational

EMU took eight event titles in last week's meet held by SVSU
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team heads back to University Center, Mich., Fri.-Sat., Jan. 26-27, for the SVSU Jet's Pizza Invitational. This is the second consecutive week the Eagles have participated in a meet hosted by Saginaw Valley State University.
The Green and White look to build on its impressive performance in last week's event, which saw EMU capture eight titles out of the 12 events Eastern competed in. The day was highlighted by freshman Owen Richardson (Basingstoke, England) marking the second-fastest 200m dash time in the Mid-American Conference, crossing the finish line in 21.34 to earn his first event title as an Eagle. Additionally, the freshman ran strong in the 60m dash to set a new career-mark of 6.93, placing second behind EMU teammate, sophomore Tyler Johnson (Dayton, Ohio-Stivers School for the Arts).
Sophomore Devonte Findlay (Lauderhill, Fla.-Blanche Ely) also posted a new MAC-best in the 60m hurdles, claiming first with a time of 8.09. The mid-distance crew continued EMU's success by sweeping the top-five spots in the 800m. The event was led by senior Tom Jozwiak (Southgate, Mich.-Thomas J. Anderson), who notched the second-best time in the MAC, crossing in 1:54.61. EMU also swept the jump events, as junior Cameron Hart (Columbus, Ohio-Bishop Hartley), senior Tyler Brown (Findlay, Ohio-Findlay), and junior Nick Herbert (Portage, Mich.-Portage Northern) placed atop the podium in the high jump, long jump, and triple jump, respectively. Additionally, Brown captured the 400m dash title with a time of 48.23, which now stands as the third-best time in the MAC.
