Logan Burton Named MAC Co-Swimmer of the Week

This is the third time Burton has received the honor this season

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — Senior Logan Burton (Chesapeake, Va.-Hickory) of the Eastern Michigan University men's swimming and diving team was named Mid-American Conference Co-Swimmer of the Week, for his blazing performance against Ball State University, Jan. 13, the league office announced Thursday, Jan. 18. This is the third time this season Burton has earned the weekly honor.

Helping to secure Eastern's 24th consecutive dual win over the Cardinals, Burton locked up 27 points for EMU with three individual event wins. The Chesapeake, Va. product started the meet strong with a first-place finish in the 1000 freestyle. Competing in the event for the first time this season, Burton clocked in a blistering time of 9:46.38 to own the ninth fastest time in the MAC and second fastest for EMU this season. Swimming in the 50 free for the first time since the 2015 MAC Championships, the senior earned his second event win of the day with a time of 21.64. Burton notched his final win in the familiar 100 butterfly, where he touched in at 49.23. The senior concluded the meet with the 200 free relay, where his cohort swam as an exhibition squad since Eastern was well ahead in the team standings.

The Eagles return to action this Saturday Jan. 20, when they take on the Warriors of Wayne State. Action inside WSU Natatorium is set to start at 1 p.m.
