YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team continues its conference slate Friday, Jan. 19, when it treks down to Bowling Green, Ohio to take on Bowling Green State University.
 So far, the Falcons have amassed a 2-0 record, defeating Michigan State, 194.000-193.350, and Utah State, 194.825-192.975. BGSU ranks third in the MAC with an average team score of 194.413, and ranks second in the conference in vault (48.700), beam (48.613), and floor (48.863).

EMU In the MAC: The Eagles currently rank fourth in the Mid-American Conference with an average team score of 193.463. Individually, EMU has a representative in the top-10 for each event, with redshirt senior Lacey Rubin holding the highest ranking, presently tied for fourth on bars with an average of 9.838. Additionally, the Plainview, N.Y.-native is tied for eighth on beam with fellow teammate and freshman Jada Rondeau, with the two boasting a 9.787 average. Senior Kendall Valentin also ranks eighth in both vault and bars, while sophomore Emili Dobronics is tied for seventh on floor.

EMU vs. BGSU In Recent History: The battle between the Eagles and Falcons has been a back-and-forth affair for the past 10 years, as the two have compiled a 7-7 record against one another in their regular season meetings. EMU has had the upper hand as of late, currently holding a 4-1 advantage over BGSU since 2015. Most recently, the Green and White toppled Bowling Green in the last meet of the regular season last year, before holding them off in the MAC Championship a week later to capture the conference title.

Last Time Out: The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team dropped its home-opener to Central Michigan, 194.525-194.025, Saturday, Jan. 13, inside the Convocation Center.
    The meet was highlighted by senior Kendall Valentin earning a share of the bars title with a score of 9.875, as well as four other Eagles notching career-best scores. 
    Eastern's best event of the day came from the bars squad, who notched a 48.900 for EMU's highest event score this season. Outside of Valentin's meet-high 9.875, redshirt senior Lacey Rubin and sophomore Emili Dobronics posted scores of 9.825 and 9.800, respectively, while redshirt sophomore Carly Clark marked a career-high 9.700.

Looking Ahead: Eastern takes a break from conference action when it heads to East Lansing, Mich. to compete in a quad Saturday, Jan. 27. The meet will consist of host-Michigan State, Pittsburgh, and Rutgers, and will serve as one-of-two quads the Eagles will participate in this season, as the Green and White are set to travel to Philadelphia, Pa., March 11, to take part in a meet hosted by Temple.
