Eagles Kick Off Tennessee Relays with Hammer Throw

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team kicked off the Tennessee Relays, Thursday, April 6, in Knoxville, Tenn. Day one was quick, as just a pair of Eagles took part in the hammer throw.
Leading the Green and White in the hammer throw was redshirt senior Anthony Jones (Sandusky, Ohio – Sandusky). Jones notched a top-10 finish, as the Sandusky, Ohio native took ninth-place with a throw of 56.38 meters/ 185 feet. Also competing was sophomore Zach Harkey (Huron, Ohio – Huron), who secured 16th after posting a mark of 46.41 meters/ 152 feet 3-inches, which was .07 meters shy of his career-best.
The Eagles continue the Tennessee Relays tomorrow, April 7. Day two, which features the majority of events, is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with the second half of the men's decathlon, while the women's heptathlon will resume at 11 a.m. Additionally, running events will start at 2:45 p.m. with the women's 400m hurdles and field events will commence at 3 p.m. with the women's long jump.
