EMU in Seventh Heading Into Final Day of MAC Championships

NASHPORT, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Battling a four hour weather delay to being the day, the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team completed the third round of the 2017 Mid-American Conference Championships Saturday, April 29, on the par 72, 7,243 yard Virtues Golf Club course. Players were initially held off the course for four hours when heavy rain pelted the area throughout the morning before giving way to bright sunny skies.
Kent State University owns an 16-stroke lead over the field after Saturday's round. Ball State (876) is in second place followed by Miami (888), Ohio (888), Toledo (891), Akron (894), EMU (895), Northern Illinois (896), and Bowling Green (902).
Head Coach Bruce Cunningham's squad entered the day in fourth-place, and left the course following Saturday's round in the seventh position. The Eagles carded a third round 299 for a two-day cumulative score of 895 (303-293-299).
Sophomore Beau Breault (Hartland, Mich.-Hartland) led EMU with a 71 on the day for his lowest round of the weekend.
Miami's Patrick Flavin hold the lead on the field with a nine-under 207 (69-71-67).
The fourth and final round of the 2017 MAC Men's Golf Championship will get underway at 7:45 a.m. Sunday, April 303. Following competition, MAC Golfer, Freshman, Coach and Sportsmen of the Year, First and Second Team All-MAC and the All-Tournament team will be announced.
