NASHPORT, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Weather will forever be remembered as the story of the 2017 Mid-American Conference Men's Golf Championships on the par 72, 7,243 yard Virtues Golf Club course. The 45 student-athletes experienced three weather related delays Sunday, April 30, with a pair of lightning suspensions as well as a fog delay to begin the round. In total,  more than nine hours of play were wiped off the slate due to Mother Nature during the tournament's 72 holes.

In the end, No. 12 Kent State University captured its 24th league title, finishing at three-under 1,149 (287-288-285-289). Ball State earned the runner-up at 1,174 followed by Ohio (1,183), Miami (1,185), and Northern Illinois (1,190).  KSU's Gisli Sveinbergsson earned medalist honors with an eight-under par 280 (68-70-71-71) total.

The Eagles finished in seventh with a 1,192 (303-293-299-297).

EMU senior Kyle Rodes (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) tied for eighth with a four-over 292 (69-71-75-77) for his seventh top-10 finish of the 2016-17 campaign. Rodes wrapped up a sensational EMU career by adding Second-Team All-MAC honors for the first time in his career.

Sophomore Beau Breault (Hartland, Mich.-Hartland) finished tied for 26th with a 302 (83-75-71-73). Senior Jared Multer (Battle Creek, Mich.-Lakeview-Grand Rapids C.C.) and senior Philippe Weppernig (Lucerne, Switzerland-Kantonsschule Alpenquai Luzern-Owens C.C.) finished in 31st and 34th, respectively. Rounding out the rotation, junior Nic Ross (Dundas, Ontario, Canada-Highland Secondary) placed 36th with a 307 (77-78-80-72).
