Men's Golf to Participate in the Windon Memorial Classic

SKOKIE, Ill. (EMUEagles.com) — For the fifth time in eight years, the Eastern Michigan University men's golf program will be a part of the Windon Memorial Classic. The 15-team tournament will begin Saturday, Oct, 7, with a practice round, before 36 holes of continuous play begins Sunday, Oct. 8, at 8:30 a.m. The final 18 holes will be played Monday, Oct. 9, at 9 a.m.
Joining EMU on the par 70, 6,793-yard setup will be Army, Columbia, Indiana, Iowa, Iowa State, Loyola Chicago, Northern Illinois, Northwestern, Miami (Ohio), Marquette, Penn State, Princeton, UC Davis, and Wisconsin.
The Windon Memorial Golf Classic. Named after the late Bernie Windon, former vice-president of Ameritech and the one who initiated the effort to bring major collegiate golf to the Chicagoland area. Shortly after his passing, the "Quintessence Classic" was changed to the Windon Memorial Classic to keep his spirit alive.
Playing this weekend for 25th-year Head Coach Bruce Cunningham will be junior Beau Breault (Hartland, Mich. -Hartland), senior Nic Ross (Dundas, Ontario, Canada-Highland Secondary), freshman Cougar Collins (Caledon, Ontario, Canada-Mayfield Secondary), freshman Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario, Canada-St Joseph's Catholic), and sophomore Zach Sudinsky (McKinney, Texas-Boyd-Stephen F. Austin).
The Eagles turned in a second place finish at the Windon Memorial Classic a season ago. Kyle Rhodes finished tied for second overall with a total score of 212 (76-66-60=212), good for four-under in three rounds, while Breault tied for eighth with a three round total of 217 to finish one over par.
