Beck and Stevenson in Top-10 After Day One of Kzoo Classic

PORTAGE, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Senior Thelma Beck (Baden, France-Lycee Sainte Anne) fired an opening day total of 149 (78-71) to lead the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team Monday, Oct. 2, at the Kzoo Classic. Beck sits in a tie for third-place, while the Eagles are in fifth as a team with a 637 (323-314) on the par-72, 6,133 yard Moors Golf Club course.
Behind Beck, sophomore Julia Stevenson (Milford, Mich.-Milford) recorded a two round total of 153 (79-74) to sit in a tie for eighth. Freshman Preaw Sripatrprasite (Bangkok, Thailand-Siam International) is tied for 16th with a 160 (79-81), while junior Penelope Guilleux (Saint Maur Des Fosse, France-Arsonval) is in 20th-place with a 162 (81-81).
Sophomore Maria Connelly (Waterville, Ohio-Anthony Wayne) shot an 85 and an 81 for a two round tally of 166. Classmate Katelin Lawson (LaSalle, Ontario-Ridge Community-Tampa) added a 176 (87-89) in a tie for 36th.
Bowling Green State University shot a 601 (305-296) and sits 17 strokes ahead of host Western Michigan University. Central Michigan University is third with a 621 (310-311) followed by Ohio University (315-315=630), EMU, and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay (324-323=647). BGSU's Erin Fahey holds down the top on the leader board with a two-over par 146 (75-71).
The third and final round of the Kzoo Classic will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3.
