KETTERING, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University junior Beau Breault (Hartland, Mich.-Hartland) shot a combined 139 (72-67) in the first two rounds of the Dayton Flyer Invitational Monday, Oct. 16, to hold a share of the lead on the par-71 7,055-yard NCR Country Club South Course. Breault and Ohio State's (71-68) both finished the day with two-round scores of 139. EMU is slotted third with one round remaining, while Miami University and The Ohio State University are first and second, respectively, through 36 holes.
Breault shaved five strokes off his opening-round 72, putting together a second-round score of 67, to hold a 36-hole total of 139. Breault's second-round score was his lowest 18-hole total of the season and his best since he shot a five-under 66 at the GCU Invitational, March 17, 2017.
Behind Breault, senior Nic Ross (Dundas, Ontario, Canada-Highland Secondary) sits in a tie for 14th. Ross shot an even par 71 in the first round to lead the Eagles through 18 holes, before carding a 75 in the second round of the day. Freshman Cougar Collins (Caledon, Ontario, Canada-Mayfield Secondary) also finds himself in the top-20 after two rounds of play. Collins shot a five-over-par 76 in round one, then finished even in the second round to tie for 20th.
Freshman Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario, Canada-St Joseph's Catholic) and senior Tyler Lewis (Ortonville, Mich.-Brandon-Mott CC) are tied for 33rd overall with two-round totals of 150, while sophomore Zach Sudinsky (McKinney, Texas- Boyd-Stephen F. Austin), who is competing as an individual, is one stroke back of the duo in a tie for 42nd.
EMU looks to climb the team standings tomorrow, Oct. 17, with the final round of the invite. The day begins at 8:45 a.m. with a shotgun start.
