KETTERING, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Entering the final round of the Dayton Flyer Invitational, Eastern Michigan University junior Beau Breault (Hartland, Mich.-Hartland) was tied atop the leaderboard and remained there at the conclusion of Tuesday's final round on the par-71 7,055-yard NCR Country Club South Course. Breault fired a two-over par 72 in his final round to finish the tournament at one-under par 212 (72-67-73).

However, he finished in a tie with Patrick Flavin of Miami University, which necessitated a playoff. After both players scored a par on the first hole, they made their way to No. 18. Breault finished with a par, but Flavin hit his second shot to within four feet and drained the putt for the birdie and the win.

For Breault, it was just his second career top-five finish and the first since the GCU Invitational, March 17-18, 2017, when he tied for fifth. He finished the fall with a 72.50 scoring average and three of 12 rounds at par or better.

As a team, Eastern Michigan finished in third behind the RedHawks (860) and Ohio State University (865). Illinois State University (872) and the host Flyers rounded out the tournament's top-five slots.

Behind Breault, senior Nic Ross (Dundas, Ontario, Canada-Highland Secondary) picked up his sixth career top-10 showing with a 219 (71-75-73) in a tie for ninth. Freshman Cougar Collins (Caledon, Ontario, Canada-Mayfield Secondary) also found himself in the top-20 with a 221 (76-71-74).

Freshman Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario, Canada-St Joseph's Catholic) and sophomore Zach Sudinsky (McKinney, Texas- Boyd-Stephen F. Austin) tied for 27th overall with 54-hole marks 223. Senior Tyler Lewis (Ortonville, Mich.-Brandon-Mott CC), who was competing as an individual, was 36th with a 225 (78-72-75).

This concludes the fall portion of the competition season for Eastern Michigan. The season resumes Feb. 12-13, 2018, when the Eagless travel to Dade City, Florida for the annual Earl Yestingsmeir Match Play event.
