YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) –
The Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team wrapped up the EMU Triangular today, Jan. 28, against CMU and Kent State. The Eagles finished in second as a team, totaling 103 points on the day.

"It's always great to be competing in historic Bowen Field House," remarked Head Coach John Goodridge. "Every opportunity we have to be competing in this facility is always fun. I thought we had a wonderful atmosphere today, and it was a great team competition. It's certainly something we can build on."

Junior Leighton Antonio (Hudson, Ohio – Hudson) continued his strong start to the year in the 60m dash, bringing home a second-place finish with a career-best time of 6.90 seconds. Freshman Sean Beckom (Saginaw, Mich. – Heritage) also had a solid race, taking fifth in 7.03 seconds. Antonio matched his performance in the 200m dash, bringing home another second-place finish with a personal-best time of 21.90 seconds. Sophomore Tyler Underwood (Clinton, Mich. – Clinton) also nabbed third in the race, posting a time of 22.06 seconds.

Moving to the 400m dash, sophomore Elijah Barber (Columbus, Ohio – Eastmoor Academy) clocked in with a career-best time of 50.89 seconds, which was good for third. The 800m run saw junior Tom Jozwiak (Southgate, Mich. – Thomas J. Anderson) bring home another silver for EMU, clocking in with a personal-best time of 1:56.07. Freshman Roderic Wilson (Atlanta, Ga. – Blanche Ely) also finished in the top-five, taking fourth in 1:56.50.

Eastern dominated in the mile, as redshirt senior Willy Fink (Maumee, Ohio – Maumee), and redshirt juniors Hlynur Andresson (Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland - Mountain Ridge) and Nick Raymond (Erie, Mich. – Mason) swept the podium. Fink posted a time of 4:07.36, while Andresson and Raymond crossed the finish line in 4:09.83 and 4:14.21, respectively. Fellow redshirt junior Lahsene Bouchikhi (Antwerp, Belgium - Stedelijk Lyceum Paardenmarkt Luchthaven) gave EMU another gold, as the Antwerp native won the 3000m with a time of 8:35.36. The Eagles were also able to edge out Kent State in the 4x400m relay, as Underwood ran an incredible split at the end to give EMU a time of 3:22.37 to seal the event win.

In the 60m hurdles, freshman Ivan Suazo (Columbus, Ohio – Westland) finished second with a time of 8.30 seconds, while fellow freshman Devonte Findlay (Lauderhill, Fla. – Blanche Ely) finished third in 8.31. Sophomore Cameron Hart (Columbus, Ohio – Bishop Hartley) had an outstanding day in the high jump, finishing with a career-best mark of 2.14 meters/ 7 feet 0.25-inches, which also tied the sixth-best jump in program history. Freshman Drew Lament (Lakeview, Ohio – Waynesfield-Goshen) also had a solid performance, posting a mark of 1.85 meters/ 6 feet 0.75-inches, which was also a personal-best.

Both of the team's pole vaulters posted personal-bests, as freshman Colin Etchen (Edgerton, Ohio – Edgerton) brought home fourth with a mark of 4.60 meters/ 15 feet 1-inch, while fellow freshman Drew Pickus (Solon, Ohio – Solon) took seventh. Hart also found success in the long jump, winning the event with a mark of 7.24 meters/23 feet 9-inches to notch another career-best. In the triple jump, sophomore Micah Peters (York, Ontario – Vaughn Road Academy) brought home a third-place finish, tying his personal-best with a jump of 14.55 meters/ 47 feet 9-inches.

Rounding out with the throws, freshman Jannik Schmitt (Plymouth, Mich. – Salem) brought home fifth in the shot put, finishing with a career-best throw of 15.51 meters/ 50 feet 10.75-inches. The weight throw saw sophomore Zach Harkey (Huron, Ohio – Huron) turn in a fourth-place finish, posting a mark of 16.36 meters/ 53 feet 8.25-inches. Redshirt freshman Taige Bryant (Edmond, Okla. – Edmond Memorial) had a career-best launch, finishing in seventh with a throw of 15.88 meters/ 52 feet 1.25-inches.

Following the team's lone home regular season meet of the season, the squad will head to the Meyo Invitational, Feb. 3-4.
