Men's Golf Continues Schedule at Windon Memorial Classic

GLENVIEW, Ill. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University men's golf heads to Northwestern's Windon Memorial Classic, Sept. 25-26, in Glenview, Ill. The 14-team field will play 54 holes over the two-day event held at the par 72, 7,103-yard North Shore Country Club. The field will open with 36 holes on Sunday and a final 18 on Monday.
There will be 14 teams in the field, including DePaul, EMU, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Marquette, Michigan, Northern Illinois, Northwestern, Princeton, Purdue, Rutgers, UC Davis and Wisconsin.
Eastern Michigan will bring a five-member starting squad consisting of junior Nic Ross (Dundas, Ontario, Canada-Highland Secondary), sophomore Beau Breault (Howell, Mich.-Hartland), senior Jared Multer (Battle Creek, Mich.-Lakeview-Grand Rapids C.C.), senior Kyle Rodes (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) and senior Philippe Weppernig (Lucerne, Switzerland-Kantonsschule Alpenquai Luzern-Owens C.C.).
The Windon has an illustrious history, with current PGA TOUR members Luke Donald, Joe Ogilvie, Tiger Woods, Gary Woodland and Ben Curtis finishing as runners-up in the event. Donald and current PGA TOUR members Hunter Mahan and Colt Knost are past champions.
EMU last took part in the event in 2012, when Spencer Slade turned in top-50 showing, placing in a tie for 50th place, Sept. 23-24, 2012. The Saline, Mich. native carded a 74 in the final round to finish with a 232 (82-76-74).
