Men's Golf Moves Up to Fourth at EKU Intercollegiate

RICHMOND, Ky. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team completed its time at the Eastern Kentucky University Intercollegiate today, Sept. 18, finishing fourth as a team after shooting an 850 (291-280-279) through three rounds. Despite finishing the opening day in eighth, a strong final day allowed the Eagles to climb to fourth at 10-over par.
As a team, Eastern finished their final round with a 279, marking an improvement upon their second-round 280. Overall, the Green and White improved each day, which was important in their ascent throughout the event. Eastern Kentucky had the best third round total, shooting 276 after posting a 268 on day two.
Junior Nic Ross (Dundas, Ontario, Canada - Highland Secondary) led the way for the Eagles, tallying a third-round 68, putting his three-day total at 209, or 1-under par, which was good for a tie for sixth. Behind Ross, redshirt senior Jared Multer (Battle Creek, Mich. - Lakeview) tallied a score of 213 to finish in a tie for 18th, while sophomore Beau Breault (Howell, Mich. - Hartland) was one stroke behind at 214, which was good for a tie for 25th.
Also taking part in the event for EMU was senior Kyle Rodes (Plymouth, Mich. - Plymouth), who finished in a tie for 52nd with a 220, and senior Joey Kremer (Toronto, Ontario, Canada - St. Marcellinus S.S.), who shot a 224 to finish in a tie for 71st.
Eastern will keep things rolling next week, heading to the Windon Memorial, Sept. 25-26, in Glencoe, Ill.
