MEET INFORMATION

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - After beginning their season with two consecutive meets in Michigan, the Eastern Michigan University women's cross country team will head south to compete at the Commodore Classic, Sept. 17, in Nashville, Tenn. The meet, which is hosted by Vanderbilt University, marks the first time this season that the Eagles will compete on the national stage against teams from across the country.

"This is a new meet for us, and we're excited about competing on a new course against some different teams," remarked Head Coach Sue Parks. "Mississippi State is ranked 19th, Vanderbilt is ranked 26th, and Missouri also has votes in the national poll, so the team competition will be very tough. We're excited to see how we stack up against some strong teams."

Last weekend, the Green and White traveled to Northville, as the squad ran in the Detroit Invite. Leading the way for the young lineup was sophomore Sydney Meyers (Zionsville, Ind. - Zionsville Community), who had a fantastic race, finishing second and clocking in at 18:07.0, which was 13 seconds quicker than her time from the previous week. Junior Danielle Bentzley (Birmingham, Mich. - Seaholm) was on Meyers' heels, coming in sixth after crossing the finish line in 18:42.0.

Unlike the group that ran at the Titan Invite, this weekend's lineup will be much more veteran-heavy, as the experienced harriers have not ran in a meet since the opening meet in Kalamazoo.

"We will add Sofie Gallein to the lineup this week, so the team will be at full strength for this meet," explained Parks.

The Commodore Classic is slated to kick off at 9 a.m. Central time with the men's 8,000-meter race. The women will follow at 10 a.m. with a 5,000-meter run. For more information on the meet, please click here.
