Eagles Complete Day Two of U.S. Olympic Trials

Cole Bateman posted the top finish of the day, claiming 33rd in the 100 backstroke

OMAHA, Neb. (EMUEagles.com) — Three Eastern Michigan University swimmers competed on day two of the United States Olympic Trials, Monday, June 27.
On the men's side, Cole Bateman (Hutchinson, Minn.-Hutchinson) turned in the best finish of the day for the Green and White, taking 33rd-place in the 100 backstroke. The Hutchinson, Minn. touched in with a converted time of 49.38, two seconds better than his qualifying time.
Andrew Henry (Garner, N.C.-West Johnston) followed Bateman's lead, also posting a top-50 finish in a talented 200 freestyle race. Shaving a second off his qualifying time, Henry posted a converted time of 1:36.82, winning his heat and ultimately placing 40th.
Alexis Mitcheltree (Moon Twp., Pa.-Moon Area) rounded out the Eagles competiting on day two of the week-long trials. Clocking in with a converted time of 56.55, Mitcheltree claimed 106th-place in her first race of the week, the 100 back.
The trio continue competition in Omaha over the course of the week with Henry returning to the pool Wednesday, June 29, for the 100 free. Meanwhile, Bateman takes part in the 200 back Thursday, June 30. Mitcheltree closes out the week for the Eagles, Friday, July 1, when she races in the 200 back.
