DES MOINES, Iowa / HILLSDALE, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan women's track and field team wrapped up their second day of competition this week, yesterday, April 28. Taking part in a pair of meets, the Eagles competed in both Des Moines, Iowa, as well as Hillsdale, Mich.
Freshman Rebekah Carr (Celina, Ohio – Celina) completed her first ever heptathlon, knocking out the final three events. Beginning with the long jump, the freshman posted a jump of 4.96 meters/ 16 feet 3.25-inches, while her javelin mark of 13.55 meters/ 44 feet 5.5-inches was a personal-best. The final event was the 800m, where Carr clocked in at 2:40.12. Ultimately, she finished 18th in the heptathlon with a total of 3624 points.
Over at the Gina Relays, senior Amy Frauhammer (Saline, Mich. – Saline) finished 12th of 89 runners in the 5000m run at the Gina Relays. Specifically, she crossed the finish line in 17:38.51, which was a personal-best time.
