Green and White Finish First Day of Oliver Nikoloff Invite

The Eagles claimed the hammer throw title on the day
CINCINNATI, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team kicked off the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational today, April 1, with the hammer throw. The Eagles were very successful in their lone event on the day, as the group claimed two of the top-three spots. Following one day of competition, EMU sat in third place as a team with a total of 17 points.
The Eagles posted a pair of top-three finishes in the hammer throw, with redshirt senior Keith Williams (Sherman, Ill. – Williamsville) claiming the event title with an impressive mark of 60.10 meters/ 197 feet 2.25-inches. Additionally, redshirt junior Anthony Jones (Sandusky, Ohio – Sandusky) took home the bronze with a personal-best mark of 56.87 meters/ 186 feet 7-inches. Jones' mark was also the third-best in EMU history. Also competing in the event for the Green and White was redshirt senior Andrew Wentz (Napoleon, Ohio – Napoleon) and redshirt freshman Kevin Bouchard (Whitmore Lake, Mich. – Whitmore Lake), who posted marks of 52.72 meters/ 172 feet 11.50-inchesand 48.56 meters/ 159 feet 3.75-inches, respectively.
The Green and White continue competition at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational tomorrow, April 2. Action from Cincinnati, Ohio picks up at 10 a.m. with the men's javelin, and ends with the 4x400m relay at 5:05 p.m.
