EMU took sixth place with a three round total of 877

UNIVERSITY Park, Pa. (EMUEagles.com) – Freshman Beau Breault (Howell, Mich.-Hartland) continued his string of solid late season play Sunday, April 17,  as he carded a three-round 216 (71-75-70) and to finish in 14th place at the Rutherford Intercollegiate on the par-71, 7,202-yard PSU Blue Course.

Breault, whose previous best was also a 14th at the Crooked Stick Intercollegiate, pieced together rounds of 71,75 and 70, tops among EMU golfers. The two-day mark is tied with his previous 54-hole low set earlier this season at the Firestone Invitational, Oct. 5-6, 2015.

The Eagles finished in sixth-place with a 877 (297-288-292) as host Penn State University ran away with the tournament title with a 843 (279-283-281). The Nittany Lions' Charles Huntzinger cruised to medalist honors with a 10-under 203 (70-67-66).

Senior Brett White (Caledonia, Mich.-East Kentwood) finished tied for 19th with a total of 218 (72-70-76) as junior Kyle Rodes (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) managed a 224 (76-71-77) in a tie for 35th-place. Nic Ross (Dundas, Ontario, Canada-Highland Secondary) also finished in a tie for 35th with a 224 (78-72-74). Nick Park (Howell, Mich.-Howell-Oakland) added a 227 (78-77-72) while junior Philippe Weppernig (Lucerne, Switzerland-Kantonsschule Alpenquai Luzern-Owens C.C.) completed the EMU lineup in a tie for 42nd at 225 (77-72-74).
