Henry Breaks School Record in 200 IM

ATLANTA (EMUEagles.com) - Senior swimmer Andrew Henry (Garner, N.C.-West Johnston) swam his first of three events at the NCAA Division I Men's Swimming and Diving Championships Thursday, March 24, breaking a school record in the process. The first Eagle to compete this week, Henry claimed 29th in the 200 Individual Medley.
Coming into the race with a seeded time of 1:45.69 that ranked second in EMU laurels, Henry shaved off more than half of a second in the prelims. Touching in with a time of 1:45.15, Henry broke the school record, previously held by Jacob Hanson. The Garner, N.C. product finished ahead of swimmers from several Big Ten schools as well as PAC-12 institutions, in addition to placing as the top Mid-American Conference swimmer, besting Missouri State's Artur Osvath.
With a 29th-place finish, Henry will not return to the pool until tomorrow morning when he takes part in the prelims for the 200 Freestyle. The session gets underway at 10 a.m., Friday, March 25, with final heats slated to begin at 6 p.m.
