Three Eagles Finish In the Top 35 in Mobile

EMU places ninth at the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate

MOBILE, Ala. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team shaved seven strokes off its second round total on the final day of the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate to finish ninth overall. The Eagles had a 54-hole total of 874 (291-295-288) on the par 72, 7,212-yard Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course.
No. 4 Auburn easily won the even with a 26-under par total of 838 (278-282-278) followed in second by Chattanooga's 852 (285-283-284). No. 2 Wake Forest came in third at eight-under par while Kansas State and Georgia State rounded out the top five.
Overall, Brett White (Caledonia, Mich.-East Kentwood) was the top finisher for the Eagles as he came in tied for 30th with a 218 (71-76-71) total. White finished with bookend rounds of 71 as the only EMU player to fire two rounds under-par at the two-day tournament.
Sophomore Nic Ross (Dundas, Ontario, Canada-Highland Secondary) and junior Kyle Rodes (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) tied for 34th with identical tallies of 219. Rounding out the lineup, freshman Beau Breault (Howell, Mich.-Hartland) and Philippe Weppernig (Lucerne, Switzerland-Kantonsschule Alpenquai Luzern-Owens C.C.) posted a 221 (71-75-75) and a 225 (77-74-74), respectively.
Also, taking part in the USA Individual Tournament, redshirt sophomore Nick Park (Howell, Mich.-Howell-Oakland) finished in 32nd with a two-day total of 238 (73-88-77)
The Eagles will head to Goodyear, Ariz. March 18-19 for the Desert Shootout.
