COLUMBUS, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) -
The Eastern Michigan University men's swimming and diving team's effort on day two of the Ohio State Invitational, Feb. 14, was highlighted by nine career-best times and a second place finish by sophomore Hunter Cook (Hilliard, Ohio-Hilliard Darby).

Cook led the way for the Eagles, shaving five seconds off his preliminary time to finish second in the 200 Butterfly. Clocking in with a career-best time of 1:51.50, Cook was second to only Ohio State's George Pappas.

In a highly competitive 200 Freestyle, the Eagles swept four of the top five spots in the 'B' final. Senior Miles MacDonald (Troy, Mich.-Troy) led the way, turning in the fastest race of his career and touching in with a time of 1:42.72.

Redshirt sophomore Lance Bergmann (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal) posted the Eagles second top-three finish, placing third in the 200 Breaststroke with a finals time of 2:02.97 while junior Conner Finnigan (Indianapolis, Ind.-Warren Central) and junior Chris Buzard (Venetia, Pa.-Peters Township) also posted career-best times. Finnigan finished fifth while Buzard ranked eighth.

Four more career-bests were turned in by the Green and White in the 50 Free. Freshman Max Wilkinson (South Lyon, Mich.-South Lyon) led the way with a sixth-place finish, touching in with a career-best time of 21.27 while junior Kevin Moore (Phoenix, Ariz.-Boulder Creek), senior Dylan Crompton (Redford, Mich.-Thurston), sophomore Josh Kreider (Coopersburg, Pa.-Southern Lehigh), freshman Ryan Current (Chanhassen, Minn.Minnetonka), and MacDonald all finished inside the top-14.

Crompton closed out the weekend for the Eagles with a fifth place finish in the 200 Individual Medley. The highest Mid-American Conference finisher, Crompton finished on the heels of duos from the University of Kentucky and Ohio State University. Swimming the race for the first time this season, Crompton touched in with a career-best time of 1:55.08.

Now the Eagles turn their attention to the Mid-American Conference Championships. The Green and White are set to host this season's event, March 2-5, after winning the MAC a season ago.
