YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team wrapped up play at the 32nd annual Georgetown Intercollegiate Tuesday, Oct. 18. The Eagles fired a third-round 295, to finish fifth with a tournament total of 862 (284-283-295), while two Eagles finished inside the top-five.
As a team, the Eagles finished 10-over par, 872, to claim fifth, one stroke behind DePaul and Rhode Island who tied for third. Notre Dame claimed first with a three-round total of 846, finishing six-under par, while Georgetown placed second at six-over.
Senior Kyle Rodes (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) and junior Nic Ross (Dundas, Ontario, Canada-Highland Secondary) led the Eagles, tying for fifth. The duo finished with a three-day total of 211 after carding a final round 72. The finish marked the third time this season Rodes has finished in the top-five at an event, while Ross claimed a spot in the top-five for the first time this year. Finishing seven strokes behind Rodes and Ross, senior Joey Kremer (Toronto, Ontario, Canada-Senator O'Connor) shot five over on the final round, ultimately tying for 18th.
Rounding out the scores for the Eagles were redshirt senior Jared Multer (Battle Creek, Mich.-Lakeview-Grand Rapids C.C.) and sophomore Beau Breault (Howell, Mich.-Hartland). Multer posted a 222 to tied for 32nd, while Breault finished 63rd with a total of 239.
The two-day tournament was the final fall competition for the Eagles. The Green and White now take an extended break from competition before returning, Feb. 13-14, for Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play in Dade City, Fla.
