The EMU tennis team will play a pair of games in Lincoln
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- As the 2016 women's tennis team rolls on, Eastern Michigan University travels to Lincoln, Neb. for a pair of dual matches this weekend. First the Eagles (1-2) will square off with the University of Nebraska Friday afternoon, Jan. 29, at 3 p.m. CT. In addition to its 3 p.m. Friday match with the Cornhuskers (1-0), the Green and White will square off with the United States Air Force Academy Saturday morning, Jan. 30, at 10 a.m. CT. Both matches will be played at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center on the campus of Nebraska.
The Eagles and Cornhuskers have met on the court just eight times in the two programs' histories. Eastern Michigan has yet to defeat Nebraska, holding an 0-8 record versus the Big Ten Conference opponent. The last time these two squads got together was just a season ago when Nebraska came away with a 6-1 victory over EMU, Feb. 8, 2015. In that match, Klara Supejova was the only Eagle to come away with a victory, topping Nebraska's Maggie Lehmicke in three sets, 6-4, 5-7, 6-2.
As for their contest with Air Force (2-1), it will be just the first dual match between the two programs. Although they have not met in a dual match, the Eagles and Falcons had multiple matches versus each other during the 2015 Air Force Academy Invitational last Fall. Overall, at the invitational, the Eagles went 1-4 in matches versus Air Force.
