-- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its annual academic awards lists today, July 13, with the Eastern Michigan University program well represented as the team and five individual student-athletes were recognized by the group. The awards were earned by teams and individuals meeting specific academic marks throughout the 2025-26 academic year.

To be eligible for the ITA Scholar-Athlete award, student-athletes had to maintain a 3.5+ grade-point average during the current academic year while the team needed to sport a 3.2+ GPA.

Individually, five Eagles were named ITA Division I Women's Scholar-Athletes, including Iva Daneva (Kavadarci, North Macedonia/DSU Sportska Akademija), Regina Mendez Carreño (Los Cabos, Mexico/Picacho McGregor), Matilde Parreira (Leiria, Portugal/Escola Secundária Afonso Lopes), Kseniia Saenko (Voronezh, Russia/Gymnasium 2), and Sabrina Tolstova (Odesa, Ukraine/Tennisquick Los Cristianos). Overall, the Eagles have now seen 38 different student-athletes honored by the ITA in program history with Daneva, Parreira, Saenko, and Tolstova adding their names to the list this year while Mendez Carreño earned her second selection.

With five honorees in 2025-26, Eastern continued a streak of five consecutive years with at least four honorees named to the ITA list. Additionally, the five honors earned this season tied for the fifth-highest total in program history with the 2022-23 squad while the 2020-21 and 2021-21 teams both produced a record-seven honorees for the Eagles.

As a team, the Eagles garnered their 14th all-time ITA Division I Women's All-Academic Team honor from the ITA dating back to the 2005-06 academic year. Eastern was one of 231 teams across NCAA Division I to earn the award this year.
