Eagles Drop 5-2 Decision at Nebraska

EMU fell 5-2 on the road in Lincoln, Neb.
LINCOLN, Neb. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University tennis team dropped its match Friday afternoon with the University of Nebraska, 5-2, on the road, Jan. 29. The Eagles (1-3) were able to pick up a pair of singles victories against the Cornhuskers (2-0).
In doubles action, the No. 1 and 2 doubles teams from Nebraska defeated the Eagles, 6-4, 6-3. In singles play, Ani Gogvadze came out to defeat Katerina Matysova, 7-5, 6-4, in the No. 4 spot, while Renu Sharma knocked off McKenna Maddox-Herr in three sets, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
"Tough loss tonight," remarked Head Coach Ryan Ray. "We just need to up our level another notch, and get continuity throughout the lineup to win this level of Big Ten matches. I love these challenges for my team, and am confident we will reach that level we need to produce wins of this level."
The Eagles continue dual match play Saturday, Jan. 30, when they square off with the United State Air Force Academy. The match with the Falcons is slated for 11 a.m. from the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center.
