NOTRE DAME, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University's sophomore Nic Ross (Dundas, Ontario, Canada-Highland Secondary) shot a one-under 70 in the second round of the Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic Monday, Sept. 21, on the par 71, 7,023-yard Warren Golf Course. The Dundas., Ontario native sits in a four-way tie for first place following the first two rounds of Notre Dame's tournament.
Ross, Loyola's Ethan Wall, Xavier's Daniel Wetterich and William & Mary's Will Stewart are all at three-under 139 heading into Tuesday's final round.
As a team, the Eagles are in ninth after shooting a 36-hole mark of 582 (297-285).
Junior Kyle Rodes (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) is second for EMU, and tied for 23rd overall, with a 145 (75-70). Junior Joey Kremer (Toronto, Ontario, Canada-Senator O'Connor) is tied for 45th after shooting an eight-over 150 (79-71).
Senior Brett White (Caledonia, Mich.-East Kentwood) is tied for 54th at 152 (74-78), while making his EMU debut junior Philippe Weppernig (Lucerne, Switzerland-Kantonsschule Alpenquai Luzern-Owens C.C.) is tied for 58th with a 153 (79-74). Playing as an individual, Beau Breault (Howell, Mich.-Hartland) managed a 154 (76-78) for 61st-place.
Notre Dame leads a narrow team race with a one-over 569. St. Mary's (Calif.) is one stroke back at 570 and Wofford is another stroke back of that at 571. DePaul sits fourth with a one-stroke advantage over Utah State and Loyola.
The Eagles will return to the course Tuesday, Sept. 22, for the final round.
