DAYTON, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University volleyball team completed the 2015 Flyer Invitational with a loss to the host, University of Dayton, as the Eagles (8-5) finished out non-conference play being swept for the first time this season. The Flyers (7-5) took down the Green and White, 25-11, 25-20, 25-19. For her efforts, Corynne Smith (Norwalk, Ohio-St. Paul) was named to the Flyer Invitational's All-Tournament Team.

Dayton hit just .160 but took advantage of EMU's errors, along with four team total blocks to come away with a 1-0 lead.
Set two was much different for the Eagles' offense. The Green and White hit at a stout .282 percentage, but the Flyers offense was too strong, hitting .349 in the 25-20 set win. With the win, EMU fell behind 2-0 heading into the break. Corynne Smith added another six digs to her total, while Perinar and Jones each grabbed four kills in the set. Despite making just two errors in the frame, Dayton banged home 20 kills in the set to take the 2-0 lead heading into the break.
The Eagle offense continued to heat up in the third set, but Dayton continued to improve as well. Eastern hit .371 in the final set of the match but the Flyers countered with a .531 attack percentage on their way to a 25-19 victory. Perinar put up seven kills on 15 attempts with just one error while four other Eagles added a pair. Unfortunately, the Flyers' defense continued to impress, picking up 3.5 blocks, while adding 14 digs.
With non-conference action coming to an end, the Eagles look to begin Mid-American Conference play Friday, Sept. 25, when they travel to Western Michigan University for a contest with its cross-state rival. The Green and White invades University Arena at 7 p.m. for its showdown with the Broncos.
