Women's Golf Earns Prestigious WGCA All-Scholar Team GPA Award

Eagles posted a team GPA of 3.673 to rank 19th nationally
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's golf program picked up another major accolade Thursday, July 23, as the team was ranked 19th nationally in the Women's Golf Coaches Association's 2014-15 All-Scholar Team GPA Awards. The Eagles boasted a cumulative team GPA of 3.673, as the only Mid-American Conference program to crack the rankings.
The award recognizes the women's collegiate golf program with the highest collective average team GPA which includes all of the team's student-athletes for the 14-15 season. The University of New Mexico claimed the top-spot with an average GPA of 3.799.
Earlier this summer, EMU saw three of its members honored by the WCGA when Karyn Lee Ping (Brampton, Ontario, Canada-St. Augustine Secondary School), Kelsey Murphy (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) and Lois Schoof (Amsterdam, Netherlands-Univ. of Amsterdam) were each named to the All-American Scholars list. EMU had three members of the 758-golfer list that ranged across Divisions I, II and II.
About the Women's Golf Coaches Association
The Women's Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the WGCA represents over 500 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
