Eagles Head to Virginia Challenge for Weekend Slate

Women's track and field will face multiple ranked opponents

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University's women's track and field team will head to the Mother of States to take on the field at the Virginia Challenge Friday and Saturday, April 17-18, in Charlottesville, Va.
The Virginia Challenge will feature more than 30 teams competing on the women's side, including six teams ranked in the top-40 of the latest US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). No. 18 Michigan State enters as the highest-ranked team, followed by No. 21 Virginia Tech, No. 22 North Carolina, and No. 25 Michigan, along with Notre Dame and Iona.
The meet will feature a full two days of events, starting with the women's hammer throw at 10 a.m. on Friday. The first session will conclude with sections 4-8 of the 800m at 5 p.m. before the meet starts up again at 6:45 p.m. with the Friday Night Main Event session beginning with the pole vault at 6:45 p.m. while the 4x100m relay will begin at 7:12 p.m. on the track. The final event for Friday will be the 400m at 9 p.m. The Eagles will start Saturday off at 9:40 a.m. with the 5000m run, while the 400m hurdles will end the session at 4:50 p.m. In the final session of the meet, Eastern will have competitors in the 1500m at 7:55 p.m., and will end the meet with a late night running of the 10,000m at 10:05 p.m.
